[Picture] 2/23/2009   [09-0221]   Hope
Shepherd X,  black/tan,  Female spayed,  8 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Hope is a good name for a dog who was abandoned in her middle years, but even so is cheerful, energetic, and optimistic. Hope is a spayed female shepherd mix, about 8 years old, who was found wandering around Carroll College. Her family was found, but they didn't want her back. We don't know why, because she's a sweet, calm, and gentle dog who loves people and has excellent leash manners. Hope isn't good with cats since she tends to chase them, but she can live happily with other dogs and would be excellent in a home with children, especially if they would play with her. A fenced yard would help to keep her from straying, but it doesn't need to be a high fence as she is not a jumper. Out on PAWSability!
[Picture] 2/17/2009   [09-0191]   Alex
Newfie X,  black,  Male neutered,  2 Yr
STRAY: Colonial Dr.
Alex, a very handsome Newfie X, came to the shelter as a stray in February, 2009. He was very shy of things at first but with some special attention and training he warmed up quickly to people and his new environment. He knows some obedience behaviors and likes treats, so further training would be easy and fun with this handsome fellow. His temperament is mellow and he likes people and other dogs. Alex will entertain you on walks with an occasional click of teeth, which means he is enjoying things. He will thrive with an active family who will exercise him and let him be part of the family.

Lab/Pit Bull X,  tan/white,  Female spayed,  7 Mo
OWNER TURN IN: Chico is an adorable and petite Lab/Pitbull Cross. Still very much a puppy, Chico has lots of energy and would do best with an owner who is interested in going through basic obedience classes. Chico likes to be a part of the action and gets excited easily, so children over 10 would be in her best interest. Chico could live harmoniously with an active dog if given the proper introduction. A feline-free home might be best for her.
[Picture] 12/29/2008   [08-1989]   Smokey
Malamute/Husky X,  grey,  Male neutered,  2 Yr
STRAY:
Smokey is a beautiful Huskey and Malamute cross. Smokey came to us from a large-scale cruelty case out of Butte, involvng 100 plus Huskies and Malamutes on a bus. A fenced yard is mandatory for Smokey, as is a home with NO small animals (cats/small dogs). Because of Smokey's past experiences, a consultation with the shelter's animal behaviorist is required. Out on PAWSability.
[Picture] 12/10/2008   [08-1890]   Wilbur
Pit Bull/Boxer X,  brown/white,  Male neutered,  1 Yr
STRAY: McDonald Trailor Court
What happens when you cross a Boxer with a Pit Bull? You get a smart, self-confident, attentive mix like Wilbur, a neutered male, about 1 year old. Dog enthusiasts say that the Boxer, a German breed, is known for being active, positive, fun loving, and typically gentle with children. Pit Bulls, an American breed, have a reputation they usually don't deserve because, when trained from an early age, they can be companionable, outgoing, and happy to please. Wilbur, we believe, has the best of both breeds. He arrived, as a stray but clearly has been well handled and socialized. He's wiggly and affectionate, outgoing and energetic. Wilbur is good with other dogs, though he seems a little too interested in cats to live with them comfortably. And he's great with kids. He's ready and eager to be a great companion in a good home.
[Picture] 11/26/2008   [08-1823]   Penny
Lab X,  black with white,  Female spayed,  1 Yr
STRAY: Montana Av.
Penny is a loving and active medium sized Lab cross. She gets along with cats and kids over the age of 10. Penny can be choosey about the canines she befriends (she generally prefers males), so if you have dogs, a meet and greet at the shelter is mandatory. Penny's affectionate disposition would make her a wonderful addition to a home where she will get lots of exercise and attention.
[Picture] 8/8/2008   [08-1127]   Luna
Mixed,  white,  Female spayed,  1 Yr
STRAY: Valley Speedway
Luna is a gorgeous, exotic looking mixed breed. Full of energy, Luna loves to run, so an owner that's willing to give her copious amounts of exercise and play time would be ideal. Luna is still young, and would benefit greatly from obedience training, especially when it comes to leash "etiquette". Because of Luna's high-energy, children in their teens are a must. If your looking for energetic canine companion, Luna is the dog for you! Out on PAWSability.
[Picture] 2/7/2008   [08-0164]   Murphy
Lab X,  black,  Male neutered,  2 Yr
STRAY:
Murphy was found as a stray South of Boulder along Highway 69 in February. A good Samaritan fearing for his safety pulled over and rescued him from the busy highway. He is a very handsome yet large dog weighing in at 86 pounds. He is definitely not an apartment dog. He is housebroken and is patiently waiting for a home with a big fenced yard to play and relax in. He would need a home with an experienced owner with older or no children. In Foster Care.
