2/3/2012   [A019614]   Roxy
Boxer,  tan/white,  Female spayed,  Adult
STRAY: 1500 blk S 12th St W, Missoula
Roxy's owner never contacted us, so when her stray period was over we went ahead and had her spayed. This means this shy lady now has a chance at a new home, and we hope to find one where she will truly be treasured.
2/3/2012   [A026760]   Jack
Lab/Dachshund X,  red,  Male neutered,  2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Well, he's certainly larger than your usual Dachshund, but he's nowhere near the size of a Lab! He's a handsome guy who loves people and has always been around children (with whom he was a great companion), but he just didn't get along with the family's other dogs. Sounds like being an "only dog" would solve any problems he has, so that's the kind of home we'll look for.
2/3/2012   [A026758]
Miniature Pinscher,  red,  Male,  Adult
STRAY: 1500 blk Shakespeare, Missoula
This fellow is just a cute bundle of fun who seems to love everyone. He's so very tiny that you would think he'd be overwhelmed by being in a kennel with so many big guys, but he seems to be taking it all in stride!
2/3/2012   [A026722]   Luna
Boxer/Boston Terrier X,  black/white,  Female,  8 Mo
STRAY: Davis & S 3rd St W, Missoula
We think of Boxer and Boston Terrier as being a rather unusual mix, but it turns out that it makes a very interesting looking dog. Luna has the coloring of a Boston and the size of a Boxer, as well as a very sweet personality that seems to be just particularly hers!
[Picture] 1/29/2012   [A026704]
Lab,  Yellow,  Male neutered,  Adult   Collar: red nylon
STRAY: Hwy 10 E, Bonner
We all know what to expect from Labs -- they're happy, playful, attentive, energetic, and love interacting with people. No Lab is a better example of all that than this one. Why in the world isn't anyone looking for this great dog?
[Picture] 1/29/2012   [A026390]   Hank
Chow/Airedale X,  gold,  Male neutered,  Adult
OWNER TURN IN: Hank probably looks as much like a teddy as any dog you'll ever see! He has the long, smooth coat of a Chow, combined with a wiry component from his Airedale ancesters, and that makes for a very interesting-looking dog! He needs an adult family who will give him lots of attention, which he will be happy to repay with smiles and sighs of pleasure.
[Picture] 1/29/2012   [A025738]   Brutus
Australian Shepherd/Heeler X,  blue merle tri,  Male neutered,  8 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Brutus was known as Heinz when he was with us before, but the adopters who gave him a new name have now decided they can't keep him anymore. There were no complaints about his behavior or personality; apparently they just decided they had too many animals. That may be the case, but we still don't understand why a dog as nice as Brutus would be the one chosen to go!
[Picture] 1/23/2012   [A026642]   Lolita
Lab/Hound X,  red/white,  Female,  Adult   Collar: blue with polka dots
STRAY: WalMart on Brooks St., Missoula
If we could just get this lady to trust us, we figure she'd stop looking so sad and be quite an attractive dog. Of course, if one of us had been dumped or simply gotten lost in the WalMart parking lot, we might be a bit skittish around people too! It's sometimes hard to keep your spirits up when you don't know where your family is.
[Picture] 1/23/2012   [A026620]   Jeffery
Ridgeback X,  tan,  Male neutered,  1 Yr
STRAY: 2000 blk S Higgins, Missoula
This handsome fellow is big and lively and just a bit shy. We hope he's reclaimed before he has a chance to get accustomed to the shelter, but if he does end up being here a while, we're sure he'll settle in quite well. He's just not comfortable with us yet because -- for heaven's sake -- he doesn't really know us!
[Picture] 1/5/2012   [A026320]   Cash
Clumber Spaniel X,  tri,  Male neutered,  3 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Cash was part of a breeding kennel, so he's just now learning the fine points of being a real pet. He's figured out that people can be fun, and he has also discovered the joy of romping and playing. He looks sad in his picture, but that's just because he had no idea what the camera was!
[Picture] 12/8/2011   [A026293]   Missy
Hound X,  black/brown,  Female spayed,  2 Yr   Collar: blue nylon
STRAY: Bear Dr, E. Missoula
Missy was brought to the shelter by a neighbor, but we're not sure if she just wandered away from home or if her family moved away and left her behind. She's a lovely lady who certainly deserves to be in a loving home instead of in our kennel. Update: Missy's total adoption fee has been sponsored. Wow!!
[Picture] 11/19/2011   [A026166]   Bentley
Airedale/Lab X,  gold/white,  Male neutered,  7 Mo
OWNER TURN IN: Bentley's family split up, and he was left with no home. He's still just a pup, with all the energy you would expect, but with some training to improve his manners, he'll make a great pet. He has fine instincts; he just needs some help to curb his enthusiasm! UPDATE: A portion of Bentley's adoption fee has been sponsored by Jil Paterni in honor of Pat Hughes, and in hopes that it helps Bentley find a home soon.
[Picture] 10/22/2011   [A025754]   Ranger
Lab X,  black, white on back toes,  Male neutered,  Adult   Collar: grey nylon
STRAY: Southgate Mall, Missoula
This young fellow can be a bit shy, but once he relaxes he remembers how much he likes to play. He also likes being chosen by our volunteers to go for nice, bracing walks. Update: Two generous families wanted to help Ranger find a new home, so now his total adoption fee has been sponsored!
[Picture] 5/30/2011   [A024295]   Humphrey
Hound X,  white with red,  Male neutered,  Adult
STRAY: 2200 blk E. Vista, Missoula
What are we going to do about Humphrey!?!?! Except for requiring a home without chickens or cats, he's a really great dog! There must be lots of people who would like to have an energetic, happy, loving dog who don't already have cats or chickens; in fact, probably more don't than do. We just need to find one of those families so that Humphrey, who has already been at the shelter almost eight months, can get into a real home. And -- as an added incentive -- his total adoption fee has been sponsored by a shelter volunteer who has spent lots of time with him and knows what a nice boy he is.
